SCULT Ltd receives Horizon 2020 SME Instrument Phase 1 funding for developing a mobile platform to foster recreational sport
Invent Baltics consultants supported SCULT Ltd, an Estonian sports lifesyle social enterise, in preparing a successful SME Instrument Phase 1 project proposal to the European Commission Horizon 2020 research and innovation funding program. The project will receive support under the Horizon 2020 business model innovation topic.
SCULT Ltd is developing “the Uber” of recreational sport: an on-demand solution for citizens to book sport mentors and coaches anywhere and regardless of their preferred sport discipline, and a unique opportunity for mentors and coaches to find clients an monetize their services. During the Phase 1 project, SCULT will focus on conducting technical and economic feasibility studies, including an associated intellectual property study for launching the marketplace on a global scale.
SME Instrument is a dedicated funding instrument under the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme that supports innovative SMEs in Europe. The instrument aims to fill the gaps in funding for research and innovation at early stages and thereby accelerate the exploitation of novel solutions to address key societal challenges. Applications are expected in various topics and companies can apply for funding as single applicants or with partners.
The SME Instrument phase 1 funding supports SMEs to cover the funding for initial feasibility assessment and business modelling for the novelty. Phase 2 funding is targeted to SMEs with particular focus on product development, demonstration activities and market replication.
The next cut-off dates for Phase 1 are February 24th, May 3rd, September 7th and November 9th. The next Phase II deadlines are April 14th, June 15th and October 13th.
Invent Baltics OÜ provides initial consultancy regarding funding opportunities within the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme free of charge. To date, Invent Baltics consultants have supported the preparation of 14 successful SME Instrument phase 1 and 6 successful phase 2 project proposals.
