Verkotan Oy receives Horizon 2020 SME Instrument Phase 1 funding for developing an Over the Air (OTA) testing method for wearable devices
Invent Baltics consultants supported Verkotan Oy, a Finnish wireless performance test house, in preparing a successful SME Instrument Phase 1 project proposal to the European Commission Horizon 2020 research and innovation funding program. The project will receive support under the Horizon 2020 Information and Communication Technologies work programme.
Verkotan is developing a novel, accurate and versatile method and measurement environment for wearable devices performance measurements, benchmarking and competitor analysis using OTA testing. During the Phase 1 project, Verkotan will focus on conducting technical and economic feasibility studies, including an associated intellectual property study for launching the marketplace on a global scale.
SME Instrument is a dedicated funding instrument under the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme that supports innovative SMEs in Europe. The instrument aims to fill the gaps in funding for research and innovation at early stages and thereby accelerate the exploitation of novel solutions to address key societal challenges. Applications are expected in various topics and companies can apply for funding as single applicants or with partners.
The SME Instrument phase 1 funding supports SMEs to cover the funding for initial feasibility assessment and business modelling for the novelty. Phase 2 funding is targeted to SMEs with particular focus on product development, demonstration activities and market replication.
The next cut-off dates for Phase 1 are February 24th, May 3rd, September 7th and November 9th. The next Phase II deadlines are April 14th, June 15th and October 13th.
Invent Baltics OÜ provides initial consultancy regarding funding opportunities within the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme free of charge. To date, Invent Baltics consultants have supported the preparation of 14 successful SME Instrument phase 1 and 6 successful phase 2 project proposals.
