Invent Baltics initiated a successful FP7 project in cooperation with Tallinn University of Technology, IBM and Ericsson

10 July

International consortium, coordinated by Computer Engineering Department at Tallinn University of Technology and involving among others IBM and Ericsson as partners, submitted with the help of Invent Baltics a successful project to the FP7 Information and Communication Technology call.

Designing microelectronic chips is becoming more and more expensive as the systems grow more complex and additional time needs to be spent on testing and verification. Treating manufacturing faults have been well-researched and localisation as well as correction is typically not attempted, but rather the chip is discarded. However studies in the field of localisation and correction of faults introduced in specification and design, in implementation, and by the environment during use have up until today not led to groundbreaking developments.

Major corporations like IBM, Ericsson etc would save significant amount of time and resources on chips design, if faults created during the process could be located and corrected more effectively and rapidly. DIAMOND project coordinated by Tallinn University of Technology aims to develop innovative methods for solving existing technological bottlenecks. Project involves both universities as well as R&D intensive companies in the field of testing and verification, in sum eight different partners from six countries.

The overall budget of the project is 3.2 million Euros, out of which 2.8 million will be granted by the European Commission. Invent Baltics consulted the consortium in setting the overall goals and focus, in negotiations with cooperation partners and in preparing the full proposal to the 7th Framework Programme.
