Tartu University Centre of Excellence in Translational Medicine project (CETM) received funding from Horizon 2020 Twinning programme.

Invent Baltics team helped Tartu University to coordinate the project proposal preparation to the Horizon 2020 Twinning measure. The proposal got maximum points in the evaluation and was awarded a Twinning grant.

Tartu University Centre of Excellence in Translational Medicine (CETM) received funding for their project to enhance Estonian research potential and capacities in translational medicine with particular focus on immunological diseases and neurological disorders, which represent a challenging burden on individuals and healthcare systems worldwide. Strategic partnership with University College London and Karolinska Institute enables developing long-lasting knowledge exchange framework for allowing UT to capitalise on its current achievements and deliver a new internationally-leading European Centre of Translational Medicine (CETM).

Within the three-year project, CETM will: significantly enhance the overall scientific R&I capacity of UT and Estonia in the field of translational medicine; raise the research profile of academic staff and strengthen UT´s networking capacity, visibility and credibility and become one of the leading translational medicine competency centres in the North-Eastern European region by 2020.

The main goal of Horizon 2020 “Twinning” measure is to strengthen the overall scientific and innovation capacity of universities and research centers through research partnerships and knowledge transfer. The next call for Twinning proposals is in the second half of 2017.
