← Back to press releases

ZenRobotics Oy, Finnish company producing the first robotic waste sorting system in the world, received €1.4 Million funding from the CIP Eco-Innovation funding instrument to increase the market uptake for the ZenRobotics Recycler system by developing and testing it in real life conditions at SITA Suomi OY site in Viikki, Finland. The system uses advanced machine learning technology by using multiple sensors, and is currently designed for construction and demolition waste, sorting metal, wood and stone fractions.

Invent Baltics OÜ supported ZenRobotics Oy in preparing the project proposal for CIP Eco-innovation First Application and Market Replication Projects 2013 call under the Recycling priority area. CIP Eco-innovation initiative aimed to support all forms of innovation reducing environmental impacts and/or optimising the use of resources over the period 2008-2013. In total 461 project proposals were submitted to the final call in 2013, out of which 40 projects were shortlisted for funding negotiations. Green Business and Recycling were the most popular topic areas.

Although the CIP Eco-innovation program is closed, several funding opportunities exist for eco-innovation projects under the Horizon 2020 research and innovation program for the 2014-2020 period. For instance, the SME Instrument under Horizon 2020 Climate action, environment, resource efficiency and raw materials work program has allocated €19 Million to boost the potential of small businesses for eco-innovation and sustainable supply of raw materials during 2015. Invent Baltics OÜ provides initial consultation regarding the funding opportunities free of charge.
